Before the Game

  • Arrival Time: Be at the field 30 minutes early with all your gear.

  • First Steps:

    • Put on shoes and shin guards immediately.

    • Prepare to play.

    • A designated area (marked by cones) will be set up for water bottles, bags, and gear. Keeping everything together helps us stay organized and prevents lost items.

  • Pre-Game Warmup:

    • About 30 minutes before game time, we will begin warm-ups.

    • As soon as the previous game ends and the field is clear, we will move onto the field and start our 3v2 shooting drill to get players ready.

    • The goalkeeper will also start their warm-up at this time.

  • Equipment Check:

    • The referee will call the team together for an equipment check.

    • Players should line up straight and listen to the referee's instructions.

    • After the check, the coach will assign positions and call players to the field.

  • If There Are Delays in starting:

    • If the game start is delayed, stay warm by passing the ball. The forward group and the defending group will each have a ball to practice with while waiting.

During the Game

  • On the Sidelines:

    • When you are not in the game, stand in the designated team area and be ready to go in quickly when needed.

    • Stay focused and listen for instructions.

After the Game

  1. Post-Game Rituals:

    • Gather as a team and do a cheer (e.g., "Good game, opponents!").

    • Line up for fist bumps with the other team.

    • Thanks the ref by saying, "Thanks, Ref!" (even if you disagree with the calls, always show respect)

    • One Final Cheer, "Go Team" (or something more creative)

  2. Gathering Gear:

    • Now is the time to get water and check that you have all your belongings.

    • If another team is waiting, the coach will direct everyone to a location, to move gear away from the field, but stay together.

  3. Coach's Final Words:

    • The coach will provide brief feedback and final comments.

    • One Final Cheer, "Go Team" (or something more creative)

    • Players are then released.

Final Reminders

  • Sportsmanship First:

    • Do not make negative remarks to other players, teams, referees, or parents.

    • Emotions may be high, but keep your composure.

    • Any necessary discussions can happen later in a calmer setting.

  • Be Respectful & Organized:

    • Follow instructions.

    • Support your teammates.

    • Have fun and play your best!

Thanks, and let’s have a great game!
