PURPOSE
AYSO will host Progressive teams for the 2008-09 season. Players will be involved in their primary AYSO team but can be selected to also be a part of the secondary Progressive team. The Progressive team will be comprised of players that wish to play soccer at a level higher than recreational. The team will give selected players, via evaluations, an opportunity to be more competitive, improve their soccer skills while competing and playing with equivalent skilled players. The objective is to provide a forum by which players can develop at a higher level inside the AYSO organization. Progressive teams will play in tournaments as well as friendly matches against other competitive clubs.
AGES
AYSO hopes to provide this opportunity in the following age groups:
- U10 Boys - Any boy born between 8/1/1998-8/31/2000
- U10 Girls - Any girl born between 8/1/1998-8/31/2000
- U12 Boys - Any boy born between 8/1/1996-7/31/1998

Frequently Asked Questions
Must my child play in AYSO to be on the Progressive team?
Yes, all progressive players must be a part of a regular AYSO team. Will is cost more money?
Yes the progressive team will require a second jersey set for games. Other expenses such as other league, tournament and referee fees will be required. Our goal will be to keep this under $120.How are players selected for the progressive team?
The coaching staff and one regional board member will hold 2 try-out sessions. Players will go through a number of events testing many aspects of soccer. The three areas under review are personal skills, team play and focused work ethic.Does my child have to attend both try-outs?
No, a single score will be based on one single try-out day. Players can however attend both events to improve their play. When will the progressive teams practice?
The progressive team will most likely practice once a week in addition to their regular AYSO team practices. The progressive team practices will start a few weeks earlier than the normal AYSO season and continue as necessary after the season to prepare for end of season tournaments. How many games will the progressive team play?
The final schedules have not been formed yet. For the U10 Boys team we estimate 3-6 additional soccer games/events in addition to the regular AYSO team play. Some of these will fall on the Regular AYSO Saturday games days and thus "double-headers" will occur on some weekends. Will there be travel required?
Yes in some cases the progressive team will travel to other Oregon soccer events. These will most likely be in Eugene or Salem with the slight possibility of a tournament in Portland. The coaching staff will be able to provide transportation for some players as necessary.Keizer Game Location: Whiteaker Middle School (Progressive team) | 1605 Lockhaven Drive NE Keizer | map
